Collection: Water Opals

Living Rainbows from the Earth

Ethiopian Water Opals are a breathtaking variety of precious opal, known for their mesmerizing, translucent bodies and vibrant, shifting flashes of color — a phenomenon called "play-of-color." These opals seem to contain liquid light, with internal fire that dances in hues of red, green, orange, blue, and violet depending on how the stone catches the light.

Unlike the more opaque opals from Australia, Ethiopian Water Opals often appear crystal-clear to milky, earning the nickname “hydrophane opals” due to their ability to absorb water and temporarily change appearance.
